FAQs

What is Viponds wall and trim paint?

Viponds wall and trim paints are high-quality, water-based coatings designed for interior and exterior surfaces. They provide strong adhesion, durability and a smooth finish for walls, doors, skirting boards, window frames and other trim.

What makes Viponds wall and trim paints different from other brands?

Viponds paints are made in Australia and developed for professional use. They are formulated to meet the high standards of painters, decorators and industry specialists, ensuring a seamless application and long-lasting finish. Many professionals also choose us because of our extensive range of colours and pigments.

Are Viponds wall and trim paints suitable for both interior and exterior applications?

Yes, some Viponds wall and trim paints are designed for both interior and exterior use, while others are best suited for indoor surfaces.

  • Interior only— Low Sheen Interior Acrylic is ideal for indoor walls but not recommended for exterior applications.
  • Interior and exterior — Low Sheen Exterior Acrylic, ECOshield Semi Gloss and Acrylic Trim Paint can be used both indoors and outdoors, providing durability against wear and weather.
  • Exterior only — Gloss Acrylic is specifically formulated for outdoor use and is not suitable for interior walls.

What finishes are available for wall paint?

Viponds wall paints are available in Low Sheen and Semi Gloss finishes. Low Sheen provides a soft, matte-like appearance that works well for most interior walls, while Semi Gloss offers a slightly reflective surface that is easier to clean and more resistant to scuff marks.

What finishes are best for trim?

For trims, Gloss and Satin finishes are ideal. Gloss provides a smooth, high-shine look that highlights details and resists scuffing, while Satin has a softer sheen that still offers good durability with a more understated look.

Should I paint walls or trim first?

It’s best to paint the trim first, followed by the walls. Trim requires more precise brushwork, and painting it first allows for easy touch-ups on the walls afterward. Once the trim is dry, you can tape it off and paint the walls with a roller for a clean finish.

How do I prepare surfaces before painting?

Start by cleaning the surface to remove dust, grease and any loose paint. If the surface is glossy, lightly sand it for better paint adhesion. Fill any holes or cracks with a compatible filler and let it dry completely. If needed, apply a primer, especially when painting over dark colours or stained surfaces.

What tools should I use for painting walls and trim?

For walls, use a high-quality roller with a medium nap for even coverage. A cutting-in brush is useful for painting along edges and corners. For trim, a high-quality angled brush provides precision, while a small foam roller can help create a smooth finish on flat surfaces.

How many coats are necessary for good coverage?

Most surfaces require two coats for an even, long-lasting finish. Darker colours or surfaces with strong contrasts may need a third coat or a primer to improve coverage.

Can I use a roller, or is a brush better for trim?

Both can be used, but a brush is better for detailed work on trim, edges and corners. A small foam roller can help create a smooth, streak-free finish on flat trim surfaces like skirting boards and doors.

How long does wall and trim paint take to dry?

Viponds wall and trim paints are touch dry in 30 minutes under normal conditions. Exact drying time may vary depending on temperature, humidity and airflow.

When can I apply a second coat?

A second coat can be applied after two hours. If painting in colder or more humid conditions, waiting a little longer ensures the best finish.

How soon can I touch or clean painted surfaces?

Painted surfaces can be gently touched after a few hours, but it’s best to wait at least seven days before cleaning. This allows the paint to fully cure and achieve maximum durability. When cleaning, use a nonabrasive cloth or sponge with mild detergent to avoid damaging the finish.
